Apricus is a weather, navigation, and sailing app. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. Apricus has no user accounts and does not ask for your name, email, or any sign-in.
| Data | Why | Shared with |
|---|---|---|
| Precise location | To show the weather, sea state, and forecasts for exactly where you are, to power turn-by-turn navigation, and so the hazard-alert service can warn you about approaching storms and wind near you. | Open weather providers (to fetch a forecast for your coordinates) and the Apricus hazard-alert backend. |
| Device push token (APNs) & an anonymous installation ID | So the hazard-alert service can deliver a push notification to this device. The token identifies the device, not you. | The Apricus hazard-alert backend. |
| Advertising identifier (IDFA), coarse location, ad-interaction and diagnostic data | To show ads in the app. Collected by Google AdMob, our advertising provider. | Google (AdMob). See Google's policies below. |
Apricus shows ads through Google AdMob. On first launch iOS asks whether you allow tracking (the App Tracking Transparency prompt). If you allow it, AdMob may use your advertising identifier to show personalised ads. If you decline, you still get ads — just non-personalised ones, and no cross-app tracking identifier is used. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and how AdMob uses data.
To build its forecasts Apricus sends your coordinates to free, open weather services — Open-Meteo, MET Norway, the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI), RainViewer, and national weather-alert feeds. These requests contain a location but no identifier that names you.
Your settings, saved places, recent destinations, and recorded sailing sessions (position, speed, and weather logs) are stored on your device and in your app group. They are not uploaded to us. Deleting the app removes them.
The hazard-alert backend keeps your most recent location and device token only while background alerts are enabled, so it can decide when to warn you. Turning off location access or notifications, or deleting the app, stops further collection. We do not sell your data.
Apricus is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
