Apricus — Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the Apricus app ("Apricus", "the app", "we", "us"). By downloading or using Apricus you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Apricus on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with the Apple Media Services Terms and these terms.

Important — safety notice. Apricus provides weather forecasts, marine and sailing information, storm and wind alerts, and navigation as general guidance only. Weather data is inherently uncertain and may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Do not rely on Apricus as your sole source of information for any decision affecting safety — including going to sea, sailing, driving, aviation, or any activity where weather or route errors could cause harm. Always consult official forecasts and marine/road authorities, use proper charts and equipment, and exercise your own judgement. You are solely responsible for your decisions and your safety.

2. Weather and navigation data

Forecasts are built by fusing free, open weather sources — Open-Meteo, MET Norway, the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI), RainViewer, and national alert feeds — and are provided under their respective licences (e.g. CC BY 4.0, NLOD). Navigation and maps are provided through Apple MapKit. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or availability of any of this data, and coverage and quality vary by location.

3. Alerts and notifications

Storm and wind alerts depend on background location access, a working network, push-notification delivery, and third-party data. Alerts may be late, missed, or not sent at all. Treat them as a helpful supplement, never a guaranteed warning.

4. Advertising

Apricus is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. Ads and any linked content are the responsibility of their providers, not us; your interactions with advertisers are solely between you and them. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to reverse-engineer, misuse, overload, or attempt to disrupt the app or its services, not to use it unlawfully, and not to redistribute the open weather data in violation of its source licences.

6. Intellectual property

The app, its name, design, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. Third-party data remains the property of its providers and is used under their licences, with attribution shown in the app's About screen.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

Apricus is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the app or its data, including decisions made in reliance on forecasts, alerts, or navigation. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

9. Changes

We may update the app and these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
